Muskmelon

Belonging to the gourd family, muskmelon is a sweet, juicy melon related genetically to plants like pumpkin, zucchini, watermelon, and squash. However, it often exists by its more popular name: Cantaloupe, which consists of just two varieties of the muskmelon. Other muskmelons include honeydew, the Santa Claus melon, and the Persian melon. Muskmelons share similar nutritional benefits: they are bountiful with Vitamin C, Vitamin A, and many antioxidants (gallic acid, ellagic acid, and caffeic acid). In smaller quantities it possesses niacin, folate, and potassium. Some studies have supported muskmelons’ role in weight reduction.
