OLI Donates Painted Raised Garden Bed to the Warren Sharpe Community Center
On July 3rd, The Obama Legacy Initiative donated a mural-painted raised garden bed to our partner. Warren Sharpe Community Center received a beautifully painted raised garden bed from the Obama Legacy Initiative.Â
Artist and OLI intern Drushya Musham created a mural painted raised garden bed for the OLI organization that was auctioned off for a fundraiser. The art piece was purchased by Steve and Jane Purduski who donated the bed to The Warren Sharpe Community Center, located in Joliet, Illinois.
OLI donates produce every year to the Warren Sharpe Community Center, which is a food pantry and after school facility.
U.S. Congressman Bill Foster, a long time supporter of the Warren Sharpe Community Center and the OLI, talked about the importance of front line volunteers and workers at food pantries. Congressman Foster praised Musham for her remarkable artistic skills and talent.
The Mural bed will be used to plant more produce next spring and is now on display at the center's garden plot.
Special guest and partner Brian Flannigan, manager of the Joliet Home Depot, met with Jeremy Bolden, Executive of the Warren Sharpe Community Center. The Home Depot is a major contributor to the OLI and looks forward to helping the Warren Sharpe Community Center. Thank Home Depot!
